“Greed has poisoned men’s souls, has barricaded the world with hate, has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed. We have developed speed, but we have shut ourselves in. Machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us cynical. Our cleverness, hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery we need humanity. More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost....
-Charlie Chaplin
I have a Marvelous Solution! I can even sum it up in a word: COMMUNITY
I can almost hear all the unproductive responses in my ear, I like to call them EXCUSES!
Time and money will be one the top of that list.
Have you ever heard of the advice in regard to saving money? I think it's one of the best I have heard; “Save a set amount as if it's the electricity bill”. Well, why can’t we apply the same theory to Paying it Forward?
I have a very giving heart. My biggest passion in life is doing research, learning and observing patterns and analyzing them to assist me, in terms of "Being the Change I wish to see in the World"
I plan on adding resources along with my experience in many different fields.
Learn, Apply and Teach!
Sharing knowledge, and building a community, where we can come for advice or "Pay it Forward" together in this village.
It really does take a Village to raise a human!
I will like to start with a very controversial word: PRIVILEGE
Please don’t leave till you see my point (As I stated, I’m here to help; not point fingers)
privilege verb
privileged:
privileging: to accord a higher value or superior position to
privilege one mode of discourse over another
I believe the first thing that pops in someone's head when they hear this word is: Rich person, or maybe someone in power over another.
Yes, I do believe most of the time money is a key factor. But what about time? Isn’t having the time, another version of having money?
Let's compare privilege of a child:
Option 1: 2 Parents with 1 working and the other in charge of most of the child's none financial needs.
Option 2: 2 Parents, both working a minimum of a full-time job.
Option 3: Single parent, working full time in 1 job minimum.
Now, let's throw in some obstacles.
Add on 1: Child with special needs and/or a disability.
Add on 2: Let's add a language barrier, the child and the parents have just moved from out of the country. Maybe they didn't just move, maybe the child even speaks perfect English but the parents may or may not and they have no idea yet of our culture and our ways. Mind you, their birth country does not need to be a 3rd world country!
Do you kind of see where I’m going with this?
Why aren't we ALL taking on a bit of responsibility in our own communities, to offer a hand? Teach about our system, or offer any knowledge we may have in regards to their needs.
My beautiful 12 yr old daughter is hearing impaired. We didn't find out till she was in 2nd grade. I had absolutely zero knowledge in regard to advocating for my daughter. Did I receive any resources from the diagnosing physician? Her school? Nope!!! I did find a perfect community online and have learned so much, which I plan to share in the nearest future. But let's just pause for a moment and ask: Whatever happened to HUMANITY? Are we all so self-absorbed in our tiny little bubble or working non-stop to buy more things we don't need?
Do you not believe it takes a Village to raise a child?
You do believe and that's why you are on my page reading this article.
Help me help others; Help me pay it forward and Be the Change WE Wish to See in our Communities.
